Week #53

Here we are at the end of our favorite year to date!  2020 was AMAZING!!

JUST KIDDING...

HOWEVER, the continual bright spot for us has been the continued response of our YB members.  You all are making this bearable as you continue to seek change in your own lives, the people and companies that make up our FOODSHED*, and the life of our planet.

We are ready to bring you the best food we can find in 2021.

We are ready to bring you an enhanced online shopping experience and delivery system.

We are ready to bring you more of what you have been asking and waiting for.

We are ready to get back out into the community (when we are allowed), and have some events and continue to foster both our relationships with you all, as well as introduce you to our growers and producers!

Right now, we are into some awesome OHIO PRODUCE like apples, potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes, heirloom squash, rutabaga, beets, onions, garlic, radishes, turnips, asian greens, brassica’s, head lettuce, sprouts...and that’s just what I can think of off the top of my head.

We have an awesome deal with Shagbark Seed and Mill out of Athens, OH for January.  (think heirloom popcorn)

We have some amazing organic citrus coming from our partners in Florida.

We have some more pre-made meals being done each week by Chef Meagan!...and this week you can just buy some protein (Chicken Breast or Tofu) to add to whatever dish/soup/salad you are doing at home.

Also, we have a nice “Short Dated” selection right now.  We had some product that was hiding and by the time we found it it was almost expired.  (best by dates start at 1/7)  Rather than throw it away, we want you to try it.  It is in perfect condition so why waste it?  The things that are really close, we are just giving away as long as they last, and the things that have a couple weeks still, we have discounted.

*A foodshed is the geographic region that produces the food for a particular population. The term is used to describe a region of food flows, from the area where it is produced, to the place where it is consumed, including: the land it grows on, the route it travels, the markets it passes through, and the tables it ends up on. "Foodshed" is described as a "socio-geographic space: human activity embedded in the natural integument of a particular place."[1] A foodshed is analogous to a watershed in that foodsheds outline the flow of food feeding a particular population, whereas watersheds outline the flow of water draining to a particular location. Through drawing from the conceptual ideas of the watershed, foodsheds are perceived as hybrid social and natural constructs.
