Thanks to everyone for all your support each week as we continue to move through the ups and downs of spring weather and temperatures.
We are just seeing our first flush of asparagus and just like the ramps, we will have just enough for a few people at first, but over the course of the next month, you will get pounds of it no matter what size box you have.
This is the time of year where I harp on the fact that we are choosing to eat real food from real local farms...you get the list every week of every item to prove it...and in doing so, you are literally “Saving The Farm”!
Yes, spring gets a little redundant.
Yes, spring is unpredictable, and it feels like we are stuck in limbo.
Yes, fresh food and all the wonderful things that Ohio has to offer are on the way...BUT, we have to “hold the line” with our growers so that we can keep them in business 12 months a year...not just the 5-6 months that the farmer’s markets are open.
As I peruse the marketplace, I can certainly see that we are NOT the most convenient place to shop, NOR the cheapest at times. What it takes to be convenient and cheap are usually things that will collapse a system and we are just not willing to bend to the will of a system that broke our earth, our small farms, and our personal (and societal) health for the sake of being able to have cheap and fast food.
In fact, you all are making a stance (whether you know it or not), and standing up to that very power structure, and taking back your soil, your relationships to the growers and their food, and your health!!
Keep it up! HOLD THE LINE!!
