Box #28

Well folks...the time to celebrate is before us.  Thanksgiving has been the traditional “ending” of our year at YB.  This year is slightly different as we will be coming right back to keep the fun rolling ALL WINTER!  However, we will be taking next week off to celebrate with family and friends so it still has that same celebratory, “WE DID IT!” feeling.

We consider it all joy to be gathered with you in spirit around your various tables and layouts.

May your hearts and tummies be filled with gratitude for each breathe.  May you and yours get rest, laughter, tears, and yummies in all the appropriate places.

It’s an honor to call many of you friends, and all of you our extended family.  Thanks for making us a viable food option and supporting our growers with your $$’s ALL YEAR!!

The boxes this week give you some greens to make a nice salad.
Tomatoes came out of nowhere (actually they came from Ruben Hershberger in Hillsboro) and will be fun to have fresh for the week.

Our various sizes will get a variation of Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, Brussels, for nice roasting, casseroles, mashing, and baking.

Everyone will get some Corn Meal to steal the show of side dish’s.

Also, Asian Pears are still juicing all over the place and I have a feeling some of you are going to cut these up and put them out as an ap-pear-teaser.  (Sorry, it’s the best I could come up with on short notice)

Lastly, I didn’t jinx myself last week when I mentioned the SURPRISE!  It’s here and I’ve already used mine continuously since they arrived.
Hint:  I make LOTS of lists

Here are a few things to look forward to for BLACK FRIDAY

Lettuce Mix

Storage:  After washing your lettuce leaves, spin them dry and place the slightly damp greens in a container. A container is best, but you can use a plastic bag if you keep a corner open (to allow some airflow in). Add a few paper towels to absorb excess moisture and you'll be able to store these greens for seven to 10 days. Any greens attached to a main bulb keep attached until ready to eat!

Assorted Herbs

Storage:  Wrap the herbs loosely in the dampened paper towels and place them in a resealable bag. Seal the bag and refrigerate. This method, which allows the herbs to retain plenty of moisture, will keep your herbs wilt-free for 3–5 days.
