Week #50

The biggest question we got the last 2 weeks was, “Who is growing grapefruits in Ohio?”

Answer: “No one”.

Last winter, we met an awesome family from Florida.  The Thorpes are a 3 generation organic family farm and they are the ones that we are buying the citrus and fun fruit from. (say that 5 times fast)  They work with us the same way our Ohio growers do, but they have things that we can’t get up here, so we have loved their stuff, especially through the dark months.

This week there are Navel Oranges coming from them, and of course they just in time for CHRISTMAS!!
If, for some reason, you don’t like eating oranges, you could try this fun craft for the tree!

One last thing on the Florida fruit...some of it that you get might not look like a grocery store fruit.  THAT’s OK!  I’m NOT talking about mold...if that happens, let us know and we will get you taken care of...I’m talking about the outside of the fruit looking dark, bruised, or “bad”.  In actuality, they are most likely still perfectly fine on the inside.  (I ate a plantain today from a couple weeks ago that was literally shriveled up black...it was SOOOOO GOOOD).

This is a testament to what we call “Old World Fruit”.  The genetics on these plants are so good because they are literally built to withstand nature on the outside, and still taste perfect on the inside.

REMEMBER, we will NOT be delivering the week of Christmas...SOOOOO get your orders in by THIS SATURDAY Dec 12th, at midnight….and I promise you that Santa will make all your wishes come true...unless you have been naughty (I won’t name any names).

IT's Beggining to look a LOT like CHRISTMAS!!
Are you making a grazing board for your family to munch on Christmas Day?!?
