Week #46

This is one of our favorite weeks of the year...it’s the week that we can see what our customers are going to be cooking and backing for the most wonderful day of the year!

By the looks of things, there are going to be some tasty and soul-full things that will be on your tables next week...I’m hoping that your friends and family will be gathered with you to be able to have human interaction and see the light in people's eyes as you tell them how much you love and appreciate them.

I’d like to express my appreciation to our growers and producers this year especially as we have been able to get plenty of food and keep our prices at the place they have always been.  It seems like every day I get a story across my desk about the rising cost of anything and everything.

REMEMBER, We (You) saw this coming!!  We knew there were problems in our food system long before we started seeing the rest of the public freak out about supply chain issues.  There is a reason that we buy food in advance and plan for next year's crop of produce RIGHT NOW!

Eat well this season and know that you have a team in your corner that is fighting for both YOUR food security, as well as the LAND that provides that security.

Love you all,

Benji and the TEAM!

*A foodshed is the geographic region that produces the food for a particular population. The term is used to describe a region of food flows, from the area where it is produced, to the place where it is consumed, including: the land it grows on, the route it travels, the markets it passes through, and the tables it ends up on. "Foodshed" is described as a "socio-geographic space: human activity embedded in the natural integument of a particular place."[1] A foodshed is analogous to a watershed in that foodsheds outline the flow of food feeding a particular population, whereas watersheds outline the flow of water draining to a particular location. Through drawing from the conceptual ideas of the watershed, foodsheds are perceived as hybrid social and natural constructs.
