Week #2

As a company, we have been meeting together to redefine who we are.

Not necessarily to change anything, although we are always open to change, especially if it
benefits the customer.

More to just circle back to the core of who we are.  Why do we exist?

At the end of the day, we are floating around things like, “We exist to connect the consumer, to
their food in a meaningful way.”

As I look at the boxes being built (as I am typing this), each piece of food has a story.

This alone makes it no different than any piece of food on any shelf in any grocery store in
America.  What makes this food different is that I know the people that pulled it out of the
ground.  We planned with them a year ago for this cabbage, potato, onion, lettuce, and bok
choy to be ready at THIS EXACT MOMENT.  (ok, more of an estimate on time, than an EXACT
time).

We have paid them directly with YOUR $MONEY$ to be able to keep producing what they are
producing.

And what ARE they producing?

Nothing short of our
-complete
-all-encompassing
-fully integrated
-fully conscious

Sense of
-self
-well being
-connectedness

*in other words....TOTAL HEALTH!!

We will stop at nothing short of this for ourselves, our growers, and each of you!

*A foodshed is the geographic region that produces the food for a particular population. The term is used to describe a region of food flows, from the area where it is produced, to the place where it is consumed, including: the land it grows on, the route it travels, the markets it passes through, and the tables it ends up on. "Foodshed" is described as a "socio-geographic space: human activity embedded in the natural integument of a particular place."[1] A foodshed is analogous to a watershed in that foodsheds outline the flow of food feeding a particular population, whereas watersheds outline the flow of water draining to a particular location. Through drawing from the conceptual ideas of the watershed, foodsheds are perceived as hybrid social and natural constructs.
