Foodshed
Why would I place my foodshed so high? Because in my 42 short years of living it seems like food is a pretty important part of my life.
In the sense that, if it wasn’t available at some point I would cease to go on living.
Food is NOT a given…we get that now at this point…right?
Food is grown by a human(s) somewhere and if that person(s) would stop growing it, we would stop having it.
If the human that is growing my food is not being paid well, treated properly, not treating the earth properly, or the weather/bugs/general pestilence decide to decimate…we would again not have it.
As you break the proverbial bread with your families this year, please remember that the food that you are consuming is literally giving you LIFE.
It’s VERY IMPORTANT that we treat our foodshed with the honor and reverence it deserves.
The foodshed is You.
The foodshed is Me. (assuming you eat)
The foodshed is the soil and the seed that was planted, and the person planting it.
The foodshed is the rain that fell on that exact plot of earth and the sun that shown down on that exact plot of earth.
The foodshed is the truck that picked it up, and the driver that brought it to us and then to you.
We have to stay connected.
Connected to ourselves.
Connected to our land.
Connected to each other.
Connected to our food.
Let’s make every day a continued giving of thanks to the things that are keeping us alive and connected and healthy!
From our team to you and yours,
YB
