Week #28

Seems like the newsletter each week starts with a line similar to this…”My Goodness this looks like the best week of the year!!”

Just walked through the assembly line as our team are packing your orders and I saw blueberries, blackberries, cherries, sweet corn, tomatoes, kales, asian greens and summer squash…all in perfect condition…and I went ahead and taste tested everything and it’s exquisite.

This is it…this is what we in Ohio live for.  When March and April give us cold, gray, and wet…we look towards this day when the skies are blue and all our vegetation is giving us the medicine we need for survival.

May you each taste the sun, water, and soil that is in each bite of your food this week.

May it connect you to your souce.

May it give you the energy you need to get your holy work done.

May it bring you peace.

#wearethefoodshed

*A foodshed is the geographic region that produces the food for a particular population. The term is used to describe a region of food flows, from the area where it is produced, to the place where it is consumed, including: the land it grows on, the route it travels, the markets it passes through, and the tables it ends up on. "Foodshed" is described as a "socio-geographic space: human activity embedded in the natural integument of a particular place."[1] A foodshed is analogous to a watershed in that foodsheds outline the flow of food feeding a particular population, whereas watersheds outline the flow of water draining to a particular location. Through drawing from the conceptual ideas of the watershed, foodsheds are perceived as hybrid social and natural constructs.
