We have wonderful food this week that I will not be talking about.
What I want to tell you is going to be sad and you will need a couple of days to let it sink in.
Erin Dugger, our longest-tenured Yellowbird Employee, and our customer service extraordinaire is leaving our team to go live her dream. Ever since I have known her, even before she was married, it seemed her dream was to be a full-time, stay-at-home mom. After 6 years of hard work and dedication to her work, her food, and her family…she is getting to do just that.
Her last day is December 9th.
As I type this I think about all the lives she must have touched through phone calls and emails over the last 6 years. Many of you thought she was my wife for a long time because of how closely she worked with all of us and all of you.
And think about this…she feels like your family…and at what other company would you ever have that relationship with someone that was technically just your customer service representative??? I can’t think of any…I don’t have any.
Many of you are reaching out to her because you actually have a complaint about something we didn’t do right (sorry about that), and now are going to be heartbroken because she is leaving…
…let me put it this way…there is NO WAY we are going to be able to replace her.
What a gift it has been to have her through literally thousands of customers, and HUNDREDS of thousands of orders and deliveries.
In the next two weeks please reach out in any way you feel is appropriate to wish her well and share a memory.
What was our common thread? Our foodshed. It is times like these that it becomes completely clear how important it is…it’s not JUST about food.
