I remember being 23, newly engaged, and very broke. Trav was still in school, making minimum wage at a coffee shop and we were just actively filling out applications and hoping for something to come along. We prayed in the parking lot of a Whole Foods and by the time we got back to our car Trav had a missed call from James Smith (MVNU) that his pal was looking for a truck driver for his veggie business and he was wondering if he would be interested. We met Benji and his family barefoot in the park to “interview” and it felt like we were meeting our people. Yellowbird was a huge blessing then, and it has continued to be a blessing for our family.
I believe I was officially working at YB for a solid 3 days before I ran my own solo market. That’s what I love about this company- they really put their trust in us kids because we so strongly believed in the mission to bring Ohioans wholesome food.
Trav and I would work crazy hours and were often the last to leave the building- because why not?! We were together, and doing something we loved. We learned so much from Benji and John about sustainability and the importance of chem-free eating. We visited farms, and sometimes even got to help harvest the food that made its way to your tables.
One of my favorite things before working remotely (other than getting to use countless veggie puns on signage) was running the Thursday night market. I got to meet so many of you all, and hear about your lives, your families, and your good meals.
My role at YB has changed a dozen times, but I’m so grateful for every opportunity to be in wonderful company and eat delicious food, all while being with my family.
When I play restaurant with my toddler she serves me "organic food with no CHemicals” (the h is pronounced) and if they have colors they are “dyed with radishes.” What other toddler (other than a Yellowbird-raised toddler) would play that way?! She is listening and she is learning.
We received an invaluable gift by being a part of Yellowbird, and I just want to say thank you again for letting me be a part of your food family.
Brittany, our lovely product specialist, will be taking over my duties and taking carrot (had to) of you all in the future, so peas (can’t stop) welcome her!
With much love,
Erin

Different size boxes allow for different items, either by type or by quantity. The items in each box vary and no box will include the entire list above. Fulls will have the greatest variety, and bases will have more variety than the minis.
