Week #10
You have been getting Bradwood Farms Hydroponic Greens for years...watch this video to go behind the scenes of their Tuesday deliveries and a tour through our warehouse!

Have we made it?  Are we out of the woods?  Is Winter officially behind us?

I’ll believe it in July.

This week is a radical break from the norm in our boxes as we gearing up for one of our favorite “unofficial” holidays...Pi day.

3.14 = Pi = 3/14 = March 14th

We obviously bust the budget on this week’s items but are so grateful that you have been with us throughout the toughest months in Ohio that it’s a no brainer that we have to get you almost EVERYTHING you would need to make the best Pizza Pi’s possible.

The tomatoes are from Thorpes in Florida.  Keep in mind these are not "perfect" in season, Ohio, tomatoes that we get in June and July, BUT, with pizza as the main attraction this week, we went with them anyways and are fine to do as a topping or in a sauce.

The dough balls start frozen but if you are going to use them in the coming week, I would put them in the fridge so that they will be completely thawed when you are ready to use them...I would advise using them within a week of thawing in the fridge but I have personally used them after 2 weeks and they were fine.

Any of you that have been getting our “text” alerts, that service has folded and will no longer be giving us the ability to do that.  We are working on a contingency plan that allows us to offer a way more robust version that will alert you when your boxes arrive...stay tuned.

Something new outside of the “food” sector.

I was introduced to a book through one of our members instagram accounts.

Jessica Burton (@jessica_c_burton) will be helping us navigate the book “The Conversation: How Seeking and Speaking the Truth About Racism Can Radically Transform Individuals and Organizations” by Robert Livingston. She will be guiding us through discussions that will encourage open, honest, and optimistic dialogue among all participants with the hope of inspiring continued nurturing, learning, and growth.

Jessica is originally from Dallas, Texas and has been living in Columbus, Ohio for over seven years. She is currently a Development Manager at Orange Barrel Media, and has previously held various corporate positions within L Brands and EXPRESS in the Columbus area.

Starting on Tuesday March 23rd, from 6:30-7:30 pm (and every other week for 6 weeks), we will get together through ZOOM and discuss a couple chapters.

This book is meant to be CONVERSATED about so what better way to grow and get the full experience than to conversate with other YB members in a safe space?

St. Pattie’s Day next week!! See our “featured page” for everything you will need to make your Shepard’s Pi (This also counts as a hangover Pi for “Pi Day”)

*A foodshed is the geographic region that produces the food for a particular population. The term is used to describe a region of food flows, from the area where it is produced, to the place where it is consumed, including: the land it grows on, the route it travels, the markets it passes through, and the tables it ends up on. "Foodshed" is described as a "socio-geographic space: human activity embedded in the natural integument of a particular place."[1] A foodshed is analogous to a watershed in that foodsheds outline the flow of food feeding a particular population, whereas watersheds outline the flow of water draining to a particular location. Through drawing from the conceptual ideas of the watershed, foodsheds are perceived as hybrid social and natural constructs.
