Week #35

Boxes are LOADED this week!

Piles of fruit and veggies!!

I think this would be a great week to make a classic Pico de Gallo

https://cookieandkate.com/classic-pico-de-gallo-recipe/

This morning when I woke up it was 61 degrees...so I broke out the sweaters!!  Just kidding, but it did have me thinking about what we have in the fields right now that we will be enjoying over the next couple of months.

In case you don’t keep a count like I do, we are 12 weeks away from Thanksgiving!!

In between now and then we are going to see brussels sprouts, all kinds of amazing squash, of course pumpkins (which are actually squash), taters and sweet taters, watermelons, and lots more amazing apple varieties.

Seasonal items will be on our store...think nogs, pumpkin spice, cookies, and seasonal meals!

SPOILER:  We have partnered with one of Columbus’s most famous bread makers to offer her new DIY product...the “bread box”.

It will be a limited quantity so be ready to pull the trigger on this one-of-a-kind product!

*A foodshed is the geographic region that produces the food for a particular population. The term is used to describe a region of food flows, from the area where it is produced, to the place where it is consumed, including: the land it grows on, the route it travels, the markets it passes through, and the tables it ends up on. "Foodshed" is described as a "socio-geographic space: human activity embedded in the natural integument of a particular place."[1] A foodshed is analogous to a watershed in that foodsheds outline the flow of food feeding a particular population, whereas watersheds outline the flow of water draining to a particular location. Through drawing from the conceptual ideas of the watershed, foodsheds are perceived as hybrid social and natural constructs.
